4AM Wake up!

The last three days the men have been working hard to get the water cistern done. Things did not go according to plan but that’s to be expected when you work in the area a place we do.

At 4 AM the guys were up to water the trees. Many ask how it’s possible to water over a thousand trees by hand. The answer is…THEY DO. Having the water cistern done will tremendously help the guys have a source of water on the land.

Thank you to all who have continued to encourage us in the HUGE vision for this year!

ALL CAME OUT TODAY!

Today we begin putting on the water cistern!

Staff from Lemuel were invited to come early this morning to help. The ladies collected gravel while the men prepare to pour the cement roof.

Here in Haiti they say, “Anpil men, chay pa lou” “A lot of hands make light work”.

Weekend with Mr. Phil...

We can’t do this on our own!

This weekend our friends Lara Berry and Phil Snyder came up from near
Port-au-Prince to see the work happening with Samuel’s Trees.

Phil introduced us to a new type of tree that he believes will do well here. It’s the Moringa Stenopetala and its leaves are high in nutrition and protean as well as the seeds.

Showers and a Special Visit

Yesterday the clouds rolled in. It looked like the wind would take the rain passed us but we managed to get a beautiful shower.

Bryon Sparling is here for the month to help with various projects. He donated the rain gage to Samuel’s Trees a few months back.
Today Bryon got to see the rain gage IN USE!

Samuel is in Gonaives, a city 2 ½ hours away, do get the rest of the supplies to finish the small cistern for the tree nursery. We had just enough donations come in last week to purchase what we needed!

THANK YOU to all those who have invested in this vision!

SWEET REWARD!!!

Carnival weekend gave the team at Samuel’s Trees a few days to enjoy a retreat that Lemuel hosted here on the

.
Of course there was a good football/soccer match to make the retreat complete.

At the end of retreat Samuel went to the land and enjoyed the FIRST FRUITS' from the land. A SWEET WATERMELON!!

Another mile stone!

Remember
when they started...

6 weeks later!!!

Today the guys finished clearing the land where we will be putting in the 75,000 gallon cistern. This cistern will be used for watering all the trees on this land and the land around us.

A very HUGE accomplishment for the guys who have done ALL THIS BY HAND!

BRAVO!!!

They are still growing!

While the walls of our depot have gone up, so have the trees.

While the walls of our depot have gone up, so have the trees.

It’s incredible to think that just months ago the only thing growing on this land were thorns and weeds. Now there are several kinds of fruit trees, almond trees, hard wood trees and trees to make charcoal. The guys also planted some corn, but the millet just started growing on its own.

Now that the walls are up, next week the men will build a cistern on the roof of the depot. This is where we will irrigate the seedlings in the tree nursery.

It’s exciting to see how each donation brings us a little closer to seeing this center of development a reality.
