This morning Mme Gilbert and I walked over to the land to check the rain gauge. We didn't get a lot of rain but it all counts. As we walked back she shared that we should pray that more rain would come today. 

 WELL...we just had ANOTHER beautiful shower!!!

We are SO THANKFUL!!!

Today we were going to make an announcement on some BIG CHANGES we are making to Samuel's Trees.We are seeing that we need to think through a few more details first. SO STAY TUNED!!!

10 syringes, 10 buckets and 2 Germans…= A GREAT IDEA!!!

DRIP IRRIGATION

Manis and Samuel would like to try this idea NOW while we are in the middle of the drought to show an alternative to planting gardens. 

Samuel wanted to find resources that people here could get themselves.

Tuesday, Samuel and his friend Michael, from Germany purchased 10 buckets in Gonaives.

Wednesday, Michael and Samuel figured out a way to use a syringe as a connector! 

Today, they are designing a structure to hang the buckets.

May 26^th ends the matching donations for the 2^nd WATER TRUCK! In two weeks we received $5,404.00 USD!!! 

We REACH OUR GOAL!!!

JUNE 3^rd Dave Muchmore and John Beerley will be driving the TRUCK to the docks in New Jersey!!!

“The kids are crying Bonita and they don’t have any food today.”- Manis said to me as we headed out the door to help another family in need.

This water crisis has given us the opportunity to show the love of Christ in a very practical way. We don’t know how long this crisis will last but for the short window of opportunity...

WE WANT TO HELP GET THEM THROUGH.

TODAY we had a few extra food bags to give to this family and a gift of money from the church so they can buy oil and salt to cook with. 

Our God will provide…

TOMORROW we will hear how much has come in for the 2^nd WATER TRUCK. Several donations have come and we will find out the END RESULTS TOMORROW!

TODAY we will water the trees again! 

Even though we are in a water crisis we see how important it is to continue to invest in the future.

Pay DAY!!!

Twice a month the guys come to get their wages. So what do they do with the money? For Rolmy it means that he can help put his two sister through school. Jean Robert is helping to pay off the family’s water cistern.

When WATER is such a huge issue one promising way a family can survive is by having their own water cistern. Not only will they have water for their own use but they can make it available to families around them and make a little business off of it.

For this family it means young girls from the community do not need to make the hour to two hour trip to a water source and once their fight to get the shallow water into their buckets. It means that children will not need to get up so early in the morning and arrive at school tired and hungry.

Pay day is important around here. We are thankful for the funds we have coming in so we can pay the guys bi weekly.

Keep them from CUTTING DOWN TREES…

 To get our people through this current crisis there are two ways we see this can work out: 

• ·        Water truck NUMBER #2…WE HAVE ALMOST REACHED OUR GOAL!!!
• ·        Get the MEN WORKING! We are seeing more trees getting cut down.  When there is no means for people to survive they start to cut trees for charcoal. We want to give an alternative. Create Food for Work projects.

Today, the guys from Samuel’s Trees are working on fixing the roads. WHY? Well, the first reason is so the WATER TRUCK can get passed these bad areas with ease. We have added a few more men to the work team. Your donations help us put MORE MEN TO WORK so less trees will be cut down!

IT’S GOING TO WORK!!!

This past week the motor for the water pump stopped working. Samuel opened it up and did some digging around. He pulled the pistons out and once it was back together those dear pistons started going and that lovely blue smoke came pouring out.

It may not be perfect BUT IT WORKS AGAIN!

Working in area like we are it’s evident that things will NOT BE PERFECT but work hard to find solutions to these daily challenges that come our way.

Reminder we have till May 26^th to match donations up $5,000 for a 2^nd water truck.

By the end of this month we have some BIG CHANGES ahead for Samuel’s Trees. BUT before we announce these changes we want to take the time to say THANK YOU and HONOR those who have been investing since we started in August 2014.

THIS ROCK will have the names of ALL those who have invested thus far. When we have rain again, we then will be planting a tree in honor of each of you.

You may have ready that Monday morning the skies poured out RAIN! Not quite an inch but it was SOMETHING and we are GRATEFUL!

Reality is HARD to face sometimes…

Our community is once again in a crisis. Water sources are contaminated, the water truck is maxed out getting water to the many people in need so the cistern is empty and the trees wilt in the heat of the sun. We are looking to the LORD to provide the water we need.

In this post we are inviting those who pray to pray. We pray for rain. We pray people will find a source for clean water and we pray that we can continue water and plant more trees!
