A small problem...

Yesterday we had several technical problems. The internet, pictures and GoFundMe was not fully set up to an account yet. We learned that some tried to give but could not. We want you to know...THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED!

Yesterday was the start...
Samuel marked off the land for the guys to start digging out the foundation for the depo. The funds are not yet there for us to do much with the construction but we will do all we can with what we have.

Jean Robert, Charilien and Wisnick have been working on the land for over three months. What they have been able to accomplish thus far has far out exceeded what most expected from these three young men.

The team from Samuel's Trees would like to wish you a very
Merry Christmas.

We are trilled to show you that our little trees are GROWING!!!

The First Tree....

When Manis returned to his home community he saw that most of the trees had been cut down for charcoal. Years of drought had forced the people to make a living off something other than their failing gardens. Manis found his family discouraged and giving up hope.
Planting trees was one of the first things that Manis started to do when he returned.
This is the first tree that was planted on the Lemuel land

This is the first tree that was planted on Samuel's land.

The Chicken needs to GO!

Starting these trees takes a lot of work. Collecting the bags, sorting the seeds, planting, watering and KEEPING THE CHICKEN’S OUT!

After the chicken's had their snack!

Many of these trees will need to be replanted.

So far we have planted...almond, neem, lemon, orange, tcha tcha, and passion fruit. When the tree nursery is built we will not have this problem.

Watering Night on the Land

Last night was watering night

The process to get water is not easy. The Lemuel water truck was made available to us but it cost money for every tank of water.

The guys work hard all day and then stay longer in the evenings to water. Each of the 1,000 plus trees need to be water by bucket.

Building the water cistern will be a tremendous help in water the trees.

All donations are being put to use right away. Thank you to those who liked our page and shared.

This is a huge encouragement to us.

Amazed and THANKFUL!!!

Broken pick handles from working in the rocky ground. The guys desperately needed more tools to keep working.

While Samuel was in Port he went ahead and purchased 3 new pick handles, a hoe, 3 shovels and a machete. Last night when Samuel got back here to the Plateau he noticed the new gift on GoFundMe. It was more than enough to cover the purchases he made.

Amazed and THANKFUL!!!
The guys working with their new tools TODAY!

Check this out!

The Mapou tree was planted on the land a year ago last September. This tree puts down deep roots and raises the water levels.

LOOK at the growth of this tree in such a short time. It's hard to imagine how this tree can survive in such dry and depleted soil.

Samuel's hand is indicating how tall the mapou was when first planted.
Nov 17th this picture was taken...just after two weeks look at the results...
November 30th...look at the growth of from that same branch!

Our New Project Site is READY!!!!
By 2016 the LAND will be handed over to the community of Cite Lemuel. But it is still far from being ready. We see this land being the starting base out for which more land can be purchased and developed. It seems impossible BUT in such a short time we are seeing that growth and change is possible but WE NEED HELP TO START!
We've raised $1,655 trough GoFundMe so far and this has paid for a fence to keep animals out, salaries for men to work, trees and water.

By 2016 we see a land filled with trees, a water cistern, a storage depot, a tree nursery, a road. Go to www.gofundme.com/samuelstrees  to help us continue this vision.

1,000 TREES PLANTED!!!

We are thrilled to be able to share with you the great news. Trees were purchased to plant on the land but with the lack of rain we waited. THEN THE RAIN CAME and we PLANTED!
