The Mapou tree was planted on the land a year ago last September. This tree puts down deep roots and raises the water levels.

LOOK at the growth of this tree in such a short time. It's hard to imagine how this tree can survive in such dry and depleted soil. 

Samuel's hand is indicating how tall the mapou was when first planted.
